About the Artist

Beau McCall—enthusiastically proclaimed by American Craft magazine as “The Button Man”—creates wearable and visual art by applying clothing buttons onto mostly upcycled fabrics, materials, and objects. McCall’s work is held in the permanent collections of numerous public institutions and by private individuals, including the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD). McCall is currently on view in MAD’s exhibition, OUT of the Jewelry Box. In 2024, he launched his nationally touring retrospective exhibition Beau McCall: Buttons On at Fuller Craft Museum (Brockton, MA) and an accompanying exhibition catalog featuring contributions from curators at the Victoria & Albert Museum (UK); Getty Research Institute; Charles H. Wright African American Museum (Detroit); Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Peabody Essex Museum; the Leslie Lohman Museum of Art (NYC); and more. His works have been featured in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, The Boston Globe, NBC, CBS, FOX 5, and more.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
