Visitor Experience Associate
(Part-Time)
The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) seeks an enthusiastic and people-oriented Part-Time Visitor Experience Associate to join the Visitor Experience team. This position reports to the Visitor Experience Manager and works collaboratively with colleagues across the Museum. As part of the Visitor Experience Team, the Visitor Experience Associate is responsible for welcoming and encouraging visitors to engage in MAD’s exhibitions and programs. The successful candidate will enjoy helping others, working together as a team, and acting with an attention to detail to ensure the best possible experience for our visitor.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Foster a warm and welcoming environment for Museum visitors, ensuring that they are informed about daily programming and other offerings, including membership
- Sell tickets for general admission, lectures, films, and special programs from the Admissions Desk
- Sell memberships and provide member support during shifts
- Manage cash drawer in accordance with museum policies and procedures
- Answer inquiries (in person and over the phone) about exhibitions, programs, amenities, membership, and related matters
- Oversee and reply to general emails regarding curatorial questions, appraisals, rentals, and upcoming events
- Independently resolve minor guests’ affairs and report issues, concerns, comments and feedback to the Visitor Experience Manager on a regular basis, escalating guest issues as needed
- Facilitate efficient visitor and group tour queueing in the Lobby
- Provide further information on exhibitions, artists, materials, and the museum’s history while stationed in the gallery floors.
- Conduct public tours and participate in docent trainings in coordination with the Education department
- Facilitate the access to the 6th floor Artist Studio and provide detailed information on the artists’ works, the residency program and education center
- As this is a new and cross-functional role at MAD, additional responsibilities and duties may develop with the role
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
- At least one year of experience in museum visitor experience, hospitality, or equivalent sales or customer service roles
- A professional, warm, and positive attitude, coupled with strong customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to communicate skillfully with the public and resolve complaints quickly and effectively
- Interest and/or knowledge of the arts, especially art, craft, and design, with an eagerness to learn about MAD’s exhibitions and programs
- Knowledge of ACME ticketing software or other ticketing software a plus
- Proficiency and comfort with mobile technology, especially iPads, iPods, and Office 365 (Teams, Excel)
- Proficiency of language(s) in addition to English is a plus
- Former docent tour/teaching experience is a plus

COMPENSATION, SCHEDULE AND PERKS
- This is a Part-Time, Hourly Non-Exempt position compensated at $19.44 per hour
- Part-Time Visitor Experience Associates are scheduled 2-3 days each week for 8-hour shifts
- Flexibility for day, evening, weekend and select holiday availability is required. Additional hours may be available, but overtime is not expected for this role
- MAD offers access to a variety of cultural institutions, extensive training on our current exhibitions and museum history, as well as the opportunity to lead both public and private group tours.
