Kelda Young
Kelda Young (Scotland) is a Glasgow-based designer and maker originally from the Scottish Highlands. An alumna of the Bishopsland Educational Trust, she has exhibited at Goldsmiths’ Fair for the past three years. Young creates sustainably conscious contemporary jewelry using recycled precious metals, with each piece uniquely shaped by the handcrafted process.
Her work is rooted in material connection and the physical act of making. Drawing inspiration from the bold geometric forms of architecture and the intricate organic details found in nature, she carefully balances these elements to create harmonious designs. Employing hollow-forming techniques alongside high-pressure embossing, Young crafts tactile and visually engaging pieces that highlight subtle textures. The softness of the pushed metal and its misleading perception of weight invite curiosity, compelling interaction. By incorporating traditional hand-engraving—often concealed within the design—her work introduces an additional layer of intrigue, encouraging deeper engagement with each piece.
