Ute van der Plaats
Ute van der Plaats (Belgium) is a German artist specializing in contemporary jewelry design. She completed a five-year program in contemporary jewelry at the RHoK Academie in Brussels in 2009 and has since worked as an independent art jewelry designer.
Porcelain, often referred to as "white gold," serves as her primary medium. She is drawn to its paradoxical nature—its delicate, fragile appearance contrasted with its inherent strength and durability. Constantly exploring new materials and techniques, van der Plaats is particularly engaged with the experimental process of mastering the unknown.
Inspired by nature, her work has been exhibited internationally and has received numerous accolades. She was the second finalist in the prestigious ENJOIA’T Award in Barcelona and, in 2017, won the MAD About Jewelry acquisition prize at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City.
